| CHOICE (by Greg Evason) |
| for anthony |
|
the moon
is a bubbling rock
if you have
eyes that can see
and ears that can hear
and a nose that can smell
and a tongue that can taste
and fingers that can feel
and a mind that can perceive
meanwhile the sun
continues
to reek its havoc
on all those senses
while I sit comfortably
and at peace
on my black leather throne
underground
where all my real friends dwell
and where our real work
is our real leisure
and vice versa
occasionally one of us
is elected
to go up
to buy some coffee
and cigarettes
and whatever else
we might need
life and death
are part of
the same thing
